# Gamesdle

> Gamesdle (https://gamesdle.bid) is a public board of daily web games (word, trivia, geography, logic and more), ranked by what each game's maker paid. Every game has its own page with a written guide to how it plays, and most can be played inside Gamesdle in the same tab.

The whole site is in English at https://gamesdle.bid/ and in Spanish (/es), Brazilian Portuguese (/pt-br), French (/fr), German (/de) and Japanese (/ja), e.g. https://gamesdle.bid/es/categories and https://gamesdle.bid/ja/rules. The legal pages are English only.

Every indexable page also has a Markdown copy at its address plus `.md`, e.g. https://gamesdle.bid/rules.md and https://gamesdle.bid/es/categories.md; the English home page's is https://gamesdle.bid/index.md and the Spanish one's https://gamesdle.bid/es.md. Each starts with front matter giving the page's title, description, address and language, and each page links to its copy with `<link rel="alternate" type="text/markdown">`. Requesting a page's normal address with an `Accept: text/markdown` header returns the same copy.

Players never pay and need no account. Game makers pay to rank a listing through Stripe Checkout; there are no accounts for them either, and the receipt email carries a private link to edit the listing. Contact: hello@gamesdle.bid.

## How ranking works

- Rank is what a game's maker paid, nothing else. New listings are whole US dollars, $10 minimum, $999,999 maximum.
- Taking #1 costs at least $5 more than the current #1. Equal totals keep the older listing above.
- Raising a listing charges only the difference. A listing is its web address without query strings.
- Chat and invite links, link shorteners and adult sites can't be listed.

- Each game page has a Play button that opens the game inside Gamesdle when its site allows framing, or in a new tab when it doesn't.
- A game's developer can make it playable here: the play page of a blocked game (https://gamesdle.bid/play/<slug>#fix) shows the headers that block it and a prompt to fix them.
